A Coastguard helicopter was called to airlift a patient from a cruise ship in the English Channel after a medical incident on Saturday morning, August 29.
The Carnival Legend, operated by Carnival Cruise Lines, was travelling from the Isle of Man to Dover when the medical emergency was reported. The evacuation took place around eight nautical miles south of Lizard Point in Cornwall.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: "At 9.40am today (29 August), HM Coastguard’s assistance was requested for the medical evacuation of a passenger on board a vessel around eight (8) nautical miles south of Lizard Point, Cornwall. An HM Coastguard helicopter was sent and the person was handed over to the Ambulance Service at Newquay."
The South Western Ambulance Service has also been contacted for comment.
