Residents who live only a hedge apart could end up in different council areas following a local government reorganisation. Roberta Ayles and Ethan Merrington-Pink are next-door neighbours in Totnes, but the planned boundary between the new Devon Council and the Torbay and South Devon Council runs between their homes. They described the plan as "ridiculous" and said it would affect matters such as school choices and bin collections. The government, which will make the final decision, has said it wants the boundary to follow parish council lines but would consider requests for boundary reviews.
