Two men have been charged after a violent disturbance in Truro city centre.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to Calenick Street at 1.45pm on Monday, August 24 after a violent disturbance between a number of individuals. Witnesses said a large knife was brandished.
Two people from Truro have now been charged. Sinjar Zurel, 27, and Seyin Zurel, 24, both of the Malpas area, have been charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Sinjar Zurel has also been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
They have both been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Truro Magistrates' Court later today (Wednesday). One man was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries, but they were later described by police as not life-threatening or life-changing.
Enquiries are ongoing as police warned that sharing footage online risks "jeopardising an ongoing investigation". A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We would like to remind the public that legal proceedings are active and any sharing of footage online risks jeopardising an ongoing investigation. Enquiries are ongoing into the incident."
