Weeks after a significant blaze tore through the cliffside at North Cliffs, new images reveal the stark aftermath. The fire broke out in the early hours of August 3 and was tackled by crews from Tolvaddon Community Fire Station. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said that at around 2.50am, firefighters were using hose reels and beaters to bring the flames under control along the steep cliff edge. At least three fire engines were sent to the scene.
The blaze was one of several wildfires reported across Cornwall in recent weeks, with crews repeatedly called to deal with fast-spreading fires in dry conditions. A sign now stands at the site from the National Trust, urging residents and walkers to "stay clear" of the torched areas due to the potential for flare-ups.
In response to the rising number of incidents, the Government issued a warning and has continued to urge residents to take extra care. People across England and Wales received an emergency alert on their phones as part of efforts to protect communities from the increasing threat posed by wildfires.
