Cornwall Rural Community Charity (CRCC) will take centre stage at Truro Farmers Market on Lemon Quay this week as it marks its 80th anniversary.
The charity’s team will be at the market from 9am to 4pm on Wednesday, August 19. Visitors can learn more about CRCC, access information and advice, and discover the range of support the organisation provides across Cornwall.
CRCC’s work spans unpaid carers, young people, education and training, and rural and coastal communities. Staff from across these services will be there to explain how the charity helps people stay connected, resilient and thriving.
The charity supports more than 14,500 unpaid carers and 5,600 residents each year. It helps people access support, improve wellbeing and build more independent futures.
Residents will also have the chance to share their views on the future of Heartlands, the heritage and community site in Pool. CRCC is exploring a new vision for the site in partnership with the National Trust and local stakeholders, and wants to hear what matters most to local people.
CRCC will be raising awareness of its 80th Anniversary Campaign, which aims to help the charity continue supporting Cornwall’s communities for the next 80 years. Visitors can find out how to get involved through fundraising, donations and other opportunities.
Chief Executive Katherine Nissen said the event is a chance for people to connect directly with the charity: “The Farmers Market is a great opportunity to come and meet me and colleagues from across CRCC, learn more about the support available for unpaid carers, young people, community organisations and people living in rural and coastal communities, and find out how we're helping strengthen communities across the county.
“As we celebrate our 80th anniversary, we're also looking to the future and want to hear from local people about the issues that matter most to them and how we can continue supporting Cornwall's communities for generations to come.”
