Man Hospitalised After Mevagissey Street Attack

A man was taken to hospital after an altercation on a residential street in the Cornwall seaside village of Mevagissey on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to Wesley Court at around 8.10am following reports of an altercation between two men.

A witness told CornwallLive that a police cordon was in place on the street for a number of hours. Pictures from the scene showed police vehicles, a section of the street taped off, and officers in the area.

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital with a head injury and has since been discharged.

A 34-year-old man, of no fixed abode and from Plymouth, was arrested on suspicion of attempted wounding with intent. He has been released on conditional bail as investigations continue.

It is not known at this time whether the two men were known to each other.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We were called to Wesley Court in Mevagissey yesterday, Thursday 13 August, at around 8.10am following reports of an altercation involving two men outside the residential premises."
