Disruptive gas work in a Cornish town is set to continue for another three months, extending the total project to 14 months.
Emergency gas and pipeline service work has been underway in the West Park Road area of Bude since September last year.
Wales & West said the work is essential to maintaining a safe and reliable gas supply for homes and businesses in the area, with the aim of keeping people warm for many years to come.
The utility company has now confirmed that the next phase will involve further road closures in the seaside town for at least another three months.
Traffic management measures will be put in place as part of this next stage of work.
The project is part of a Wales & West Utilities investment of over £1.2 million across Bude during the next 18 months.
The wider mains replacement programme will see gas pipes upgraded across the area, benefiting approximately 680 local customers as the company updates critical energy infrastructure.

“While much of the gas network is out of sight, it plays a vital role in daily life – from heating homes to cooking meals and we know how important it is that gas is there when people need it.”
She added: “Once we’ve completed this intensive phase of work, we’ll leave behind an upgraded network that meets today’s energy needs, and is ready to transport greener gases in the future. By completing this work now, barring any emergency repairs, we can avoid returning to the area and causing further disruption to the local community for decades.”
