Staff from the new Premier Inn at Newquay do their bit for the environment.

A NEW hotel opening in Newquay has shown its commitment to the community after staging a litter-pick ahead of the unveiling.

Some 28 team members at the brand-new Newquay Seafront Premier Inn at Narrowcliff visited nearby Tolcarne Beach and the Barrowfields, as well as Fistral Beach, to take part in the clean up.

The day was also an opportunity for the new team to get out into the local community and work together. The team are made up of all roles across the hotel, from reception to housekeeping, and have come from all different backgrounds and ages.

Premier Inn also worked with the local Job Centre Plus team to hold several successful recruitment days and eight of the new team were recruited in this way.

Sarah Hart, Premier Inn Newquay Seafront’s hotel manager commented: “We are really looking forward to opening our doors, and not only does this day help us build teamwork but demonstrates our commitment to giving back to the local areas in which we are operating.”

Head housekeeper Inese Ranese said: “It was great fun to get stuck in and help clean up the local beach which is right on our doorstep.

“We have been busy cleaning and setting up all 82 of the new bedrooms ready for our guests in a couple of weeks and so it made a nice change to be putting on our wellies and jackets instead of rubber gloves!”

Newquay’s newest hotel, the Premier Inn Newquay Seafront opens to guests on Thursday, February 27.
