A beachgoer was left amazed after spotting an enormous alligator swimming in the sea near the coast of Dauphin Island, a popular tourist destination in the US state of Alabama.
The huge reptile was seen frolicking in the waves by Matt Harvill, who was enjoying the beach with his girlfriend. He quickly captured footage of the unusual bather on his phone and shared it on social media.
The video has since gone viral and has been viewed more than 75,000 times.
According to Matt, it was a beautiful day on the beach when someone pointed out the alligator. He and his girlfriend walked down to get a closer look and some pictures, as it’s not every day that one sees an alligator swimming in the Gulf like that.
Although alligators are known to search for sea turtle eggs in the area, the creature in question seemed more curious than anything else.
