The New Year started with a bang in Newquay as huge crowds enjoyed a spectacular fireworks display which lit up the harbour to mark the start of 2019.

Thousands of people descended on Newquay town centre, dressed in a wide range of fancy dress outfits, including the Simpsons, nuns, and pirates.

With families squeezing into local venues to enjoy some warm food and to get a good view of the fireworks, there was plenty of fun to be had with live entertainment and activities taking place across the town.

Local hotels and businesses welcomed both locals and visitors for food, drink and entertainment and the town centre itself had a merry atmosphere.

Hundreds gathered in Central Square for the countdown to midnight whilst others lined the Killacourt, Harbour Hill and Tolcarne Beach to watch the fireworks display which is organised by Newquay Town Council to help celebrate the New Year.
