Newquay’s deputy mayor Andy Hannan believes the season has demonstrated that the work of the Newquay Safe Partnership has set the resort on the right path to improving its image and says that now the focus must be on marketing the resort.
He said: “I’m pleased the summer has gone without incident – the Newquay Safe Partnership seems to have been working well. I think we have had a better summer, managing the night-time economy and the younger visitors, but I’m mindful of how it has affected the businesses.
“I’ll be working with Newquay Chamber of Commerce and Tourism to see how businesses have found this season and what can be done to improve their trade. I’m concerned that if we clamp down on the night-time economy, without putting a lot of effort into attracting families, it will damage our trade.”
